Beaphar Fly Guard is an effective and affordable, veterinary strength medicine containing ivermectin to prevent and treat blow fly strike on your rabbit or guinea pig.
Beaphar Fly Guard is an easy-to-use spray and will effectively protect your rabbit or guinea pig for up to three months after application. Each bottle contains sufficient product to treat up to five medium-sized rabbits.
Suitable for rabbits and guinea pigs from 10 weeks of age.
Fly strike in rabbits and guinea pigs is usually caused by poor hutch hygiene or faeces sticking to the rear end of the animal, which attracts flies to lay their eggs. For Beaphar Fly Guard to be fully effective it is important to ensure good hutch hygiene and remove any faeces from your pet before use.
IMPORTANT: blow fly strike is extremely serious. If your rabbit or guinea pig is already infested with maggots you MUST seek veterinary attention immediately. Any delay is likely to result in the death of your pet.
HOW TO USE

Weigh your pet carefully before application and use the following table to calculate the correct dose.
Rabbits and guinea pigs weighing 0.5–1kg: 5 pumps
Rabbits and guinea pigs weighing 1–1.5kg: 7 pumps
Rabbits and guinea pigs weighing 1.5–3kg: 9 pumps
Rabbits and guinea pigs weighing >3kg: 15 pumps
1. Ensure your guinea pig or rabbit is clean and dry.
2. Spray your pet from the middle of their back to the tip of their tail, from a distance of approximately 15cm.
It is recommended to start treating your rabbit or guinea pig in early summer, before flies are seen.
For continuous protection, reapply Beaphar Fly Guard every three months.
For Beaphar Fly Guard to be effective it is essential to ensure you remove any faeces from your rabbit or guinea pig’s bottom area before applying. To do this, carefully soak the affected area in a warm water solution and use an appropriate pet shampoo, such as Beaphar Guinea Pig and Rabbit Shampoo, to assist this process. Do not use human shampoo on your pet as this could irritate you their skin.
Hutch hygiene is essential to reduce flies being attracted to your pet and their hutch. It is important to ensure you remove all soiled bedding at least once each week, and disinfect with a suitable product, such as Beaphar Deep Clean Disinfectant. During the summer months it may be necessary to remove any soiled bedding daily.

Store below 25°C out of direct sunlight. Protect from frost. Store in the original container. Keep away from food and drink, including animal feeding stuffs. Once empty, dispose of the bottle and packaging in the household rubbish.
